Daddy’s little girl gets the news “Dad’s diagnoses: Prostate Cancer”

I think one of the things that endeared me to him was my musical talent and my love for music in general. He graduated with a degree in music and that was his love and life and something I’m sure that he passed on to me.

A few years back my Daddy was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I was devastated. How could this iconic figure, my rock, do this to me! Do this to me. Did I just think that? When I stopped to think about it in an unselfish manner I wondered what he must be going through. I felt utterly helpless.

Did you know?

Second to skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in men; approximately 300,000 men in the United States are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year. The exact cause of prostate cancer is unknown. According to the American Cancer Society, an average American man has a one in six chance of being diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime.

My Dad went through chemotherapy and seeing him so sick from these treatments was excruciating!

Nowadays, there are great treatment options available for those diagnosed with prostate cancer. Check them out at I had no idea about these options when I was going through this with my Dad. These options would have cut the recovery time and been so much easier on him.

Daddy is now in remission and doing great. He just turned 81 last October and I get to go visit him tomorrow. I cherish every moment I have with him as if it could be my last.
