“Semper Fi” – The Secret Organization

This is a group of folk like no other; a secret organization, if you will.
It reminds me of the latin word that the Marines adopted, “Semper Fi” short for “Semper Fidelis”, which means “always faithful.” The Marines are known for their downright fanatical dedication to each other, their service and their Country. This “code” word signifies a group that is separate and unique from any other. This is a group that has no desire to be like any other group.
This motto refers to “doing what it takes, when and where, no matter what“. What goes unsaid in this motto is still always notable. It is “always” faithful, not “sometimes faithful”, nor is it “usually” but “always.” It is not negotiable. It is not relative (depending upon external conditions for its specific nature) but is absolute (unconditional and unrestricted).
Marines pride themselves on their straightforward mission and steadfast dedication to accomplish it. Things do not need to be defined or spelled out for them along the way. They know what it means and what to do about it.
Quitting is not an option. They see “This is my mission, that’s it! I will do whatever, whenever. I will not abort or abandon my mission.” Even though it may be difficult – I will stay focussed.
This word represents a brotherhood that demands more of its members than any other comparable group in the world.
It reminds me of the comradery of caregivers: a group like none other who may not have chosen this path but found themselves on this journey; giving up their life, time, plans for that of another. Those who are “always faithful” and have simply said, I will do whatever, whenever, to carry out my mission.
